Make your Website more Trustworthy
April 6th, 2010
There are thousands of websites out there all fighting for a bigger bite of the pie — so how does a potential customer choose the one where he will finally make a purchase? People are also very wary of being scammed online (with good reason) — so how do you make your website stand out from the rest and get your potential client “to feel” that you can be trusted to provide a good product or service?
Here are a few ideas that will go a long way in making your website appear trustworthy and reputable:
- Have a professional looking web site. When people visit your site and it looks unprofessional, they’ll relate that to your product.
- Always have an About us page – huge help with credibility. Publish a picture of yourself on your about page. This will show people that you’re not hiding behind your web site and you’re not afraid to backup your product.
- List all your contact details – Telephone numbers, Fax numbers, definitely at least a P O Box number if yours is not a walk in business. If you list your email address it must be “spammer-safe” so that it cannot be harvested by spammers for junk mailings. (If your website was developed by 247highway, this is done automatically, so don’t panic!)
- List how many famous or respected people (with their permission) have purchased your product in your ad. These people should be fairly known by your target audience.
- List any awards that you may personally have won, awards for your products or your business or even your website.
- Publish the results of any tests your product has passed in your ad. Your product may have passed a durability test, safety test, quality test, etc.
- Publish the results of any positive surveys you’ve taken from your customers in your ad. Just survey your current customers and list the results.
- List any publications that have written about your business. It could be a product review, on a top ten list, an article, etc.
- List any related articles or books that you’ve written. When you list a book(s) you’ve wrote, it gives you credibility because it shows you’re an expert.
- Publish any endorsements from famous people. Some people will think if a famous person, enjoys your product, so will they.
- Use a money back guarantee whenever possible for your products and services. This will remove the risk from your potential customers and show them that you stand behind your product.
- Provide testimonials from satisfied customers. The testimonials should include specific and believable results your customers have received. These testimonials must be contactable by potential customers i.e. supply their contact details (not email addresses unless protected from spammers).
- Do your utmost to get good Search Engine Page Rankings – it is a definite “vote” of confidence by the search engines.
